Hey this is my first post of the school year. Sorry I haven't updated in forever, my computer has had to endure a steady stream of viruses for the past few weeks. I'm accepting book reccomendations and reviews from any of my readers, so just send me something at dancingnixie@yahoo.com.
Also, some new information about your favorite books. Read the article in the October 19th edition of The New Yorker, or get a summary of it here. Basically, most of the bestsellers (19 out of 20) are actually made up by a commitee and then handed off to lots of different authors often writing under the same name. Among the books by this commitee (Alloy) are Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, The Clique Novels, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, and other seemingly unrelated books. This is very interesting and will for sure change the way you think about books! Any Q's or comments leave one on the page!!! (If you would like the whole article, I can possibly send you a .jpg or email document personally, just leave a request in your comment)

Girls in Antarctica Part 2
The White DarknessSymone Wates has an "imaginary friend" called Titus Oates, and he has lived in her head for quite a while. He was a real person once, he lived 125 years ago. He was on an expedition to Antarctica when he died.
Symone can hear him.
Symone is completely obsessed with Antarctica, and so is her Uncle Victor. Uncle Victor was always a dad to her, even before her own dad died.
But when Uncle Victor drags Sym off to Paris, he has another, much colder, destination in his mind. And the reason behind the trip is so insane and more sinister than imaginable.
And if all goes according to plan, Sym could die.

Girls In Antarctica: Part 1
This is part 1 in a 2-part post, with the theme of girls and Antarctica. Here goes!
Troubling a star by Madeleine L'engle
When Vicky Austin comes back home after a year in New York, her home in rural Connecticut didn't seem the same.
Vicky's friend from New York, Adam Eddington, has an Aunt (great aunt) Serena. Aunt Serena invites Vicky to tea, and they hit off straight away. But when Adam II's letters are found in a box in the attic, Vicky suspects that his death on an Antarctic expedition was no accident.
When Vicky learns that Adam the III (her friend) is off to Antarctica to study at LeNoir station, she feels left out. So when Aunt Serena gives Vicky tickets to go to LeNoir station, she's thrilled. But with the sinister warnings showing up in her locker, and strange letters from Adam, Vicky is caught in an international controversy involving Vespugia (Mad Dog Branzillo, anyone?), Vicky's life is getting more complicated every day. When she boards the boat, she believes everything will be fine. But not everyone is who they seem. . .

Feeling Sorry for Celia by Jaclyn Moriarty
Life is hard for Elizabeth Clary. Her best friend Celia keepsdisappearing (strange
but usual for Celia), Her father suddenly reappears with a startling secret, and her communication with her mom consists of wacky notes left on the fridge, such as this one:
GOOD MORNING,
EAT THE OATMEAL IN THE BIG SILVER SAUCEPAN ON THE STOVE. PUT SOME ALOE ON YOUR FACE.
DON'T BURN YOUR FACE LIKE THAT AGAIN. YOUR SKIN WILL PEEL AWAY AND THERE WILL BE NOTHING LEFT BUT BONES AND BRAIN AND EYEBALLS.
IT IS VERY AND EXTREMELY COLD TODAY. WEAR 7 PAIRS OF STOCKINGS.
HAVE A NICE FIRST DAY BACK AT SCHOOL.
LOVE FROM YOUR THOUGHTFUL AND CONSIDERATE MOTHER.
When Elizabeth's english teacher wants to rekindle the "Joy of the Envelope" Elizabeth finds herself writing a letter to a Complete and Utter Stranger.
This "stranger" is Christina Kratovac, of the high school down the road.
Then Celia goes missing. Possibly for good.
What will happen when a bungled suicide attempt and a burst appendix bring two penpals together?
Read it now! It's possibly the most comedic book I've ever seen, written entirely in the form of notes and letters.
